The Australian Shepherd has been developed in America as a farm and ranch dog. As a working dog they are authoritative and are used extensively across the states to work both Cattle and sheep.

In the UK few of us have the need of an Aussie to move stock, but that fundamental heritage should never be overlooked. A few aussie owners in this country do actively work their Aussies on sheep, some as farm dogs and others for the sheer pleasure of allowing their Aussie to use some of its natural ability.
