Australian Shepherds in Agility:

Agility is a fun sport where by dog and handler have to negotiate a course of obstacles including jumps, weaves, tunnels, see saws ect. The course is timed and the fastest clear round is the winner. Mistakes incur faults and time additions.

There are 2 main types of courses. Jumping & Agility, the difference being, the jumping classes do not have any contact equipment on the course. There are also many other fun types of classes.

All competing dogs must be measured, the dogs are split into 4 size groups, Small (350mm or under at the withers), Medium (350mm to 430mm at the withers) Intermediate (430mm to 500mm at the withers) and Large (measuring over 500mm at the withers). Most Australian Shepherds measure into the Intermediate or Large category.
